My Name is Clare Walker and I was brought up in Sheffield, a city built on heavy industry and strong women, running with the wrong gang in a street that no longer exists.
Love, Hate and Armour-Plated Handbags (based on true life events) is my very first book, and is a series of individual tales running along a main storyline, in which the lives of the ordinary unravel to an extraordinary effect.
From the unvarnished details of a life experienced on the bottom rung, to one that money and success can bring, spanning six noisy decades, it is a tale of running against the crowd, believing in your own agency and clawing your way to the top despite the presumptions and prejudice of others.
In a witty account of some painful life moments, my little book will draw you in to a world of characters, who, bound by their individualism, are at the same time separated by distorted perceptions and opposite view points not borne out by fact.
Stumbling through the chaotic world of political calculations and commercial opportunism, I am the front person with the back story and this is my book.
